/ Marriot Hotel Riyadh

The team aimed to encapsulate the rich heritage of the local environment in a new and modern expression of architecture, blending elements of past, present and future.

The low-rise hotel resembles the smooth, dry canyon walls and upon entry, waterways guide the guests into the heart of the building. The hotel’s courtyard is meant to resemble an oasis with planted cacti, flowering vines, desert flora and date palm trees.

The complex is the first five-star full-service hotel in the Diplomatic Quarter and features 80 rooms, and 140 apartments. Riyadh Marriott Hotel Diplomatic Quarter houses three dining venues. An open-air swimming pool joins other facilities including 24-hour fitness centers for both men and women.

Meeting the LEED Gold Certification requirement, the hotel site creates a protected
micro-climate. By amplifying useful daylight via a complex reflection processes, the hotel can decrease its illumination needs during the day. Plentiful shaded areas and the building’s structure allow for natural ventilation, reducing the need for air conditioning and additional cooling.
