/ Marriott Hotel Riyadh

The team aimed to encapsulate the rich heritage of the local environment in a new and modern expression of architecture, blending elements of past, present and future.

The low-rise hotel resembles the smooth, dry canyon walls and upon entry, waterways guide the guests into the heart of the building. The hotelโ€™s courtyard is meant to resemble an oasis with planted cacti, flowering vines, desert flora and date palm trees.

The complex is the first five-star full-service hotel in the Diplomatic Quarter and features 80 rooms, and 140 apartments. Riyadh Marriott Hotel Diplomatic Quarter houses three dining venues. An open-air swimming pool joins other facilities including 24-hour fitness centers for both men and women.

Meeting the LEED Gold Certification requirement, the hotel site creates a protected
micro-climate. By amplifying useful daylight via a complex reflection processes, the hotel can decrease its illumination needs during the day. Plentiful shaded areas and the buildingโ€™s structure allow for natural ventilation, reducing the need for air conditioning and additional cooling.
